You asked me when I started loving you.
May 2, 2024
In Collection with several 1973 poems
You asked me when I started loving you.
It was years before I met you
Maybe back
when I loved my dog's bushy hair
for it gave me comfort and love yes, maybe
when I was twelve but the tingles are of a
woman wanting you
wanting to express my love and share
experiences
and have long stretches of time
so there will be time to coast together.
I would like to lie
and listen to the rain with you.
I want to hold you
and it aches when you're not there.
The space next to me mocks me.
The puppies try to take your place but can't.
Not even Red Dolly and my pillow
Yes, it's awful to have to sleep without you.
Sleeping with you is beautiful an art
we are dancers swimmers lovers
sleeping alone without you is awful.
