The clouds and mountains
Live as a symphony
One tune plays into and at another
Sometimes fused
Sometimes apart and separate.
The clouds become fog to the mountain
And the mountain sometimes disappears for the clouds.
Each has his turn of standing in the center
And both step aside at times.
Never static
Dozing yes
Always aware of the other
As though each can hear the other’s breathing.
Sometimes you can’t tell which is the mountain and
Which is the clouds.
Sometimes they are gray and bleak and sour together
Sometimes they banter
Sometimes the clouds
Completely block out the mountains
And the mountains step back and wait.
The clouds in turn will also hold back
While the mountains have a stage.
