What makes Kinney run
With fifty cylinders,
Sparking electricity
and as a coil that is springing?
What is he trying to make up for
Not having; made the football team
Or are those beans chasing him?
Does he know he is away
And safe and there are no beans?
Kinney has run from physical poverty
And now wants us to run to-
Everybody run-
From physical poverty
And the poverty that comes from not knowing.
Someday he'll be too old to run
Will that bring fear of the beans?
No, he will mellow
And look back at the race
And be glad it is over.
