Walking On The Beach
May 27, 2020
In My Mother's Lap
pandemic poetry
Walking on the beach
into the ocean,
Wide, wide, ocean
while I can spread my arms
and swim—float
swim on my back
dive deep
All of this is done virtually
in my apartment during shutdown.
I can carve today as wish
little bits of phone conversation,
slurping spaghetti,
and crunching on cherries.
Today is a platter
brought to me.
