The Blues

May 2, 2024

I am a blues song
A hurricane wave
Thrashed me against a big boulder.
My feet have steel horseshoes
Nailed onto them.
My body shivers
Like the black stark fire escape
Having to face the corner winds.
My stomach aches
As though it has just smelled a skunk.
Alone, I rattle around in this vacant world
Like a homeless child
Who had been shut out of the only home he knew
A temporary charity home
Run by people who were hired
And who would keep shifting their weight from foot to foot.
