Have become a stranger to myself-
my pain has put me in prison.
Guess this strange limitation
I feel as my body’s way
of saving all its meager strength
for healing itself?
I do not understand myself
since surgery
Also think perhaps in a state
of utter shock-
it hit me in the night
New Years Eve AM
Certainly medical emergency
was not expected.
