Redwoods
June 21, 2020
Redwoods, there was that time
That hungry fire ate at your insides
Leaving you hollow and empty.
But you grew
Slowly and patiently
From that in you which was still alive.
Till now you are gallant and admirable.
You give me strength and solace
As I make my pilgrimage to your feet
And bow with respect.
Yet, I, seeing the burnt out area
That is still a part of you,
Know and understand
There was that time
That hungry fire ate at your insides
Leaving you hollow and empty.
