POEM TO MY CHIROPRACTOR
October 10, 2023
Your hands
know how to talk
to the pain
in my body
Pain that has been
unattended for a lifetime.
Your hands say
I am here to attend
to your body
and my body welcomes
your hands.
If my chiropractor knew
how much pain there is,
would he say yuck
and back off?
Perhaps best just to bring
a small spoonful
of pain to the table
Maybe best to leave my
pile of pain
back in a dumpster
far away from the city dump?
He offers with a open door
light and healing
But I am a bit afraid
this light will turn to dark
and the door will shut
and I’ll be left behind
outside in the rain
and wind.
