So many stitches to hold
my life together.
Basting
Pinning - re-setting
fittings.
Daydreaming; turning slowly
around in front of mirror.
I think of sewing machines
that can stitch so fast.
And I think of embroidery
with patient, calm women
where time is not the issue.

My life -
combining colors
Seams
So it will fit
So it will be smooth.
I remember as a child
making doll clothes.
The pleasure was in the making
not in looking at the finished product.
