OPEN AIR VEGETABLE MARKETS
June 21, 2020
Folder No 10--The Moon Grows and Other Poems
By Sally Saunders And Linda Texter
Open air vegetable markets
Are joys indeed.
So many old familiar things
Mixed with the new and exotic.
Luscious pure colors
They're in abundance.
Yellow grapefruits
Round, full and flawless
As yellow balloons on strings.
Smooth and shiny squashes
Longer than ever seen.
Fabulous mounds of lemons
Ripened perfectly.
The sellers- beauty blind,
Aloof and unaware
Except to sell their goods
Never caring about their neighbors'
Bounties
As so with dog exhibitioner
At their dog shows.
Ordinary responses
To extraordinary sights.
Such apathy
Yet, my eyes were active
And my spirits wild!
