Ocean holds me in her long arms
and hums to me.
Singing me a lullaby
and strokes my head.
My crevices fit perfectly
into ocean’s deep crevices.
Ocean hums
and sings soft tunes
to me for a long time
as a generous mother
and a generous grandmother.
I am a tiny toddler
being soothed and rocked
by my mother—grandmother
the ocean.
