Now the Least Little Thing

May 27, 2020

In My Mother's Lap

pandemic poetry

Now the least little thing
outside my window
so fascinating.
The workmen on the roof
on the building across the alley
The fact something moving to watch
grips me.
Maybe I should have
a goldfish to watch swim
back and forth
in endless motion.
Goldfish, or any fish in a bowl
does not bump themselves
against container of enclosure!
Why can’t I be like a fish
and just swim in my bowl
little as it may be
back and forth
all around?
