My toe nails were done
when I first met you.
They were painted red
to cover the whole nails.
Now you have gone
and I won't bother
to paint them again.
Time has passed
The red lines are moving up
and get cut off.
There are longer white bands
the new parts growing in
and not painted.
Still it is mostly red on my nails,
but the unpolished part is growing
and spreading.
