My life is hunt and peck
on the typewriter of days.
Others seem to have electric typewriters,
and their light, effortless touch
speeds along.
I type and think and think
some rnore before typing again.
I read and read what I've typed,
my page will have a homemade look
not· done by a program put together
by a computer,
or looking formless
as though squeezed out of a metal tube.
