My life has been full of waves
that bring
and remove
and erase
and leave holes
and form new patterns on the sand. The designs change fast
under my feet.
Often the moving sands
pull at my feet
leaving it hard to find balance.
This goes on and on.
My mother is the one hand
that's there for me
throughout all of these currents
and winds
and sun.
We have explored the graceful curves of many shells together.
It's nice to have a hand that's there for me,
for I'm often feeling very small.
