LIMESTONE
July 18, 2023
Limestone, you sit gray and hard
With just a few tiny holes
As memories
Of the animals you housed
Or maybe plants who rested on you.
You were massaged by the sea
That glittered and danced
With you.
You've been pressured, Limestone,
To change.
Now you are dull.
I have to search
To get at your tales.
Why just so gray and dull?
Weren't you allowed to glitter?
Are you gray and dull
Because of all the pressures
That pushed you down
Instead of letting you shine?
I put water on you
So you can sparkle and laugh again
But-
There is no life
