LIFE
May 2, 2020
Early Poems - Journals Book No. 1 on CD
Life, you are a teacher
Calm and patient.
Life, you are strength
As you blow past my ears.
Life, you are a friend
Who calls and waits.
Life, you are a gift
Which I cherish.
It was you, dear life, who formed me
Whose smiles and kindness
Were always so encouraging.
Life, you are full of experiences
Laden with memories I love.
Life, you are a refuge
Always presenting the joy of being alive.
But, my precious life,
It burdens my hopeful heart
It saddens my soul
With the knowledge of inevitable death
That will in time
End my sweet contact with you.
As a balance to fate's bite,
Is my wondering planned for a mark?
Who is to judge?
Will I ever know?
And will there always be a rest for
All journeys?
