It seems to me
I have a dance with each
person closely connected to me.
Since one is a tango dance
I try and dance close to him
while he dances backwards.
Then I dance backward
or even just sit down
while he dances to me
There is one who shakes my hand
hard while we dance
and has me twirl under his arm.
Wishing more for a cheek to cheek dancer
who arrives with a flower
in a box for me to wear.
Then dances only
in the scrapbook of my mind
on faded paper
but the brightness of the flower
still very strong.
There are the square dancers
I only see in crowds
but we bow
and go allemande
left and right
round and round.
