Gynecologist's Poem

March 30, 2023

written while waiting in my gynecologist's examining room

Sisters, I'm on that table again
with those awful stirrups waiting.
Soon I'll be probed into
cramped
embarrassed
baffled.
Our brothers
just have to stand there
and it's all there
they don't have to turn upside down
and we were taught to be ladies.
I'm isolated in this cubicle
but then I realize half of the world
is me.
