Early Poems to Read Christmas Eve
Under the water I can not breathe
I can not run with the sun.
Searching for an oyster - for a pearl.
Tripping over rocks and shells.
A crumpled looking one -
Gray and common
I picked it up because maybe -
Feeling for its ridges,
I opened it
Suddenly a white round pearl
Straight up to the sun
Where the pearl, myself and the sun danced.
