Sally Love Saunders' Poetry

Sally L. Saunders is a widely published Poet, Poetry Therapist, Lecturer, Free-Lance Writer and Workshop Leader.

 

Sally's work has appeared in The New York Times, Times International, The London Times, The Denver Post, and among over three hundred other anthologies, magazines and newspapers.

 

Her lesson plan for teaching poetry writing was published in The Christian Science Monitor. She holds a B.S. degree from George Williams College.

Sally has published eight books of poetry. Her poetry collection "Fresh Bread" is in the Library of Congress in the  Jefferson or Adams Building Reading Rooms. Her complete collection is also available at the Scottish Poetry Library in Edinburgh, in tribute to her ancestor, Scottish poet Robert Burns!

Currently, she is an active member in several professional societies including The Academy of American Poets and the Association of Poetry Therapy. She has received many prizes for her poetry.

She is listed in several Who's Who publications including Who's Who of America and Who's Who of American Women.

As a self-titled "Johnny Appleseed Poet", Sally travels all over the country running workshops. Some of her prestigious work includes reading poetry at The Academy of American Poets, NYC, NY, lectured at New School, NYC, NY and lectured on The Healing Power of Poetry at the University of Medical Center, San Francisco, CA.  She has also been the Poet In Residence at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina.

 

It is her absolute conviction that "Everyone is a Poet!" Sally has developed fun techniques to help individuals to get in touch with their own unique creativity.

Two grants received from the Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital of Philadelphia for the purpose of continued work in Group Poetry Therapy.

Numerous grants received from San Francisco Y.W.C.A. to conduct Poetry Writing Workshops and Seminars.

Grant received from the Philadelphia Foundation to further my work in Poetry Therapy.

Grant received from Washington, D.C. State Department to teach Poetry Writing to teachers.

Grant received from office Economic Opportunity, Washington, D.C. to teach Poetry Writing to migrant laborers in King Ferry, NY.
