Warm memories of taking
dolls to doll hospital
in the 1940's
and they’d be fixed.
Dr. Laura Esserman will fix my breast
sew it up anew.
A special hospital is Mt. Zion;
a place to be greeted with smiles
and warmth
and have unwanted tumors removed
while Laura sings, snips and sews.
Soon my new stitches
will fade
as footprints on the sands
are erased by the tide.
